Intersections Inc. and Identity Guard honored for their website security and privacy

Chantilly, VA – July 7, 2017 – Intersections Inc. (NASDAQ: INTX), a leading provider of identity risk management and privacy protection services for consumers and its brand Identity Guard®, today announced that their and www.identityguard.comwebsites have been awarded Honor Roll status in the 2017 Online Trust Alliance (OTA) Audit & Honor Roll. The OTA Audit & Honor Roll is the de facto gold standard for recognizing excellence in consumer protection, data security and responsible privacy practices for the world’s top companies.

Intersections and Identity Guard were both recognized for six consecutive years now in the Honor Roll and specifically in the last two years as “Top of the Class.” This title distinguishes companies that score in the top 5% of the 1,000 consumer facing web sites in the USA.

“We are excited to have Intersections Inc. and Identity Guard once again recognized by the Online Trust Audit & Honor Roll for our commitment to the IT security and privacy of our subscribers’ data” said Johan Roets, Chief Executive Officer. “Our 20-year track record as the industry leader underscores our continuous innovation to help protect our members’ personal information and being named Top of the Class yet again is indicative of our commitment to exceptional protection.”

Identity fraud is an issue that touches the lives of many Americans and the commitment of Intersections and Identity Guard to security and protection for their members includes a strict adherence to data security and responsible privacy practices.

As the only comprehensive, independent online trust benchmark study, the ninth annual OTA Online Trust Audit evaluates websites in three categories: consumer protection, responsible privacy practices and security. Based on a composite weighted analysis, sites that scored 80 percent or better overall, without failing in any category, received Honor Roll status.

Identity Guard is pleased that OTA has once again recognized  not only its  own achievements, but also the company’s  commitment to collaboration with the rest of  the industry to enhance its  data protection and privacy practices.  “The websites that made the Honor Roll should be proud of their accomplishments, said OTA Founder and Chairman Emeritus Craig Spiezle. “Every year the bar to qualify for the Honor Roll is raised, reflecting the threat landscape and international privacy norms. These companies should be commended for embracing leading security principles and respecting consumer’s choice and control of their privacy.”

OTA audited approximately 1,000 consumer-facing websites. It found that 52 percent of analyzed websites qualified for the Honor Roll. Companies in the Consumer services category scored the highest out of any industry with 76 percent earning an Honor Roll designation.
